One of Siege MMA's youngest professional MMA fighters, Kamuela "The Jawaiian" Kirk, has had an active month having two fights back to back within two weeks of each other.
On Saturday, October 24th, Kirk fought for the longest running MMA promotion in Arizona, Rage in the Cage, at the Gila River Arena. Although, due to several opponents accepting and then backing out, he almost had no opponent to fight. Only 5 days before the event, the promoters offered Kamuela a tough opponent in the lightweight division (155 pounds). Kirk, who normally fights as a featherweight (145 pounds), was eager to get back in the cage and accepted the fight despite the weight disadvantage.
That Saturday, "The Jawaiian" made his lightweight debut and did so in exciting fashion. The bell rang and Kirk came out with a flying front kick to the face hurting his opponent right before he shot in for the takedown, took his opponent's back, and made him tap out via rear naked choke. He did this all impressively in 25 seconds walking out of the cage injury free.
Two weeks later, Kamuela's teammate was scheduled to fight a very tough opponent, but unfrotunately had to pull out due to injury. Although Kirk would once again have to move up in weight, he accepted the fight against a very tough opponent with 22 professional fights.
On November 7th, in the World Fighting Federation at the Wild Horse Pass Casino in Chandler, "The Jawaiian" dominated the first round and went on to win by TKO in only 42 seconds of the second.
These results are just proof Kamuela Kirk's work ethic and talent. His life is dedicated to the sport and he has worked incredibly hard, along with the rest of our young up-and-coming fight team.
The rest of November will continue to be a busy month for our Siege MMA fight team! We have Erik "Drybones" Villalobos and Jimmy Scully both fighting in World Series of Fighting on Friday, November 20th. Then a week later we have Armando "El Feo" Villalobos and Johnny "Mac" McCarthy (who's fighting for the title) fighting in Gladiator Challenge in Palm Springs, California on the 28th! Josh Magdrigal and C.J. "Sleepy" Sullivan were also scheduled to fight on the 28th in another event that was unfortunately cancelled.
We're incredibly proud of our team. Kirk got things rolling with his last two impressive victories and we plan on keeping this momentum going to finish 2015 off strong!
